Sachin's Anjali

Behind every successful man there is a woman…. Seems it is true atleast in Sachin Tendulkar’s case.

Anjali Tendulkar- is India’s favourite Bhabhi. I have not seen a single person who has a negative comment to make about Sachin’s wife. She is pleasant looking, ever smiling (We saw her crying in Sachin’s farewell test), discreet and admirably low key. She has hardly spoken in media during their long marriage. We saw glimpses of her driving their kids to school or picking up Sachin at the airport. Not one for partying, Anjali managed to stay out of hectic social scene, without offending anybody. At a time when celeb couples are busy cashing in on their colossal brand value and shooting together for multi-crore commercials (Saif-Kareena,ShahRukh-Gauri, Abhishek-Aishwarya, Amitabh-Jaya), can you imagine how much money the Tendulkars could have earned had they endorsed some product together? We don’t know, it may happen in future, but it is a wonder it hasn’t in the past.

Anjali definitely falls into the ‘neighbour’s envy, owner’s pride’ category. Somewhere, at the backs of our minds, we secretly admire an Anjali for all the qualities that are fast disappearing in our cities. Anjali gave up a career (she’s a doctor) to raise a family. She chose to become a full time homemaker when her generation of educated women world over was forging ahead aggressively. She stayed out of the limelight when other wives/ girlfriends (Sakshi Dhoni, Geeta Basra, Sangeeta Bijlani) of star sportsmen were busy flaunting their privileged status. She has always dressed in sensible as opposed to super glam couture clothes. She has resisted walking the ramp for any high profile charity, though she quietly supports quite a few. She has lived the role of a modern day pativrata – silent, loyal, caring. The Perfect Wife, who has understood her position in marriage and placed her own personal priorities on a backside. No ego. No conflict.

Even Michelle Obama (Barak Obama's wife) play up to the media while pushing her image as a fashion icon. Being an intelligent, educated, smart wife of the ‘most powerful man on earth’, is a tough call for any woman. Similarly, for Anjali, being the wife of one of the biggest sports icons in the world, is an equally daunting job – what with more than a billion people tracking each move and word. So far, Anjali has not missed a single step. Being Sachin’s wife can’t be easy. For most of their married life, the cricketer has been missing in action. No matter how wonderful a dad/husband he may be, the fact is, he can’t be around like a regular family man who holds down a 9-5 job. Anjali has never complained (I guess..)… at least, not in public.

Her son Arjun plays cricket, daughter Sara watches cricket, she herself lives cricket, while husband Sachin breathes cricket. Waah! Family ho to aisi. Sachin is one of the blessed guy. He, more than any other icon – from Bollywood stars, sports personalities, politicians, seems to have it all. And a lot of that ‘all’ rests in Anjali............................. & she is swiftly gathering fan following of her own after Sachin’s 200th test at Wankhede, Mumbai.

SURYAMAL- A perfect Hill Station

What comes to your mind when you hear names Khandala, Lonavala, Matheran, Mahabaleshwar? Right…. These are famous hill stations in Maharashtra. These are perfect destinations for weekend picnic.

But if you look around your city you’ll definitely find many picnic spots as beautiful as above mentioned places. Today I’m going to tell you about one such place called ‘SURYAMAL’…

Suryamal is a place in Mokhada taluka of Thane district (Maharashtra) situated 40km away from Wada and 85 km from Nashik and 120 km from Mumbai. Located at an altitude of 1800 ft above sea level, Suryamal is less explored hill station though it is situated not far from Mumbai. Attractive trekking spots and natural beauty makes this place special. Major attraction of this hilly area is one can experience breathtaking view of green mountains and valley.

A tribal village, untouched by modernization gives perfect picture of rural life and culture. A visit to Suryamal  offres a wonderful experience of adventurous sports like trekking, mountain biking, waterfall rappelling. Thick green forest around Suryamal is heaven of beautiful birds.

Other attractions are Deobandh Temple, Mountain Range wild camp resort, Dr. Lajpatrai Mehra’s Neuropathy Centre.

An amazing hilltop surrounded by magnificent topography, Suryamal is a recommended place for those tourists who need break from the tiresome busy city life.

S U C C E S S

Few days back my mother called me. She asked me a question which was completely unexpected for me. Mummy asked, When will you become successful? As I was not prepared to answer this question I said in next 5 years you’ll see me as a successful person.

After our conversation I thought that did I answer her question correctly or I just answered her as a formality? Is the span of 5 years enough to create my own identity in society? Sincerely speaking this is a topic of debate. Time required for becoming successful in life depends upon intensity of fire within you which doesn’t allow you to sleep until you achieve set target. I was not aware of exact answer. So I decided to ask my friends about their understanding of SUCCESS…

Rahul, a science graduate said, “I’ll call myself successful if within next 5 years I’ll be able to alleviate all problems associated with my family.”

Ameesh, a software engineer &former employee of IBM said,” If my work appears in newspaper, television or when people recognize me after kind of work I do then I can say that I’ve achieved something in life.”

Lokesh, who holds a bachelors degree in agriculture said, “I would call myself successful if in next 5 years I get a class I officer job in state government which would not only make me happy but my parents will also feel proud on me. My success will also depend on marrying a girl as per wish of my parents.”

My opinion on success was that when society will start treating me as an important person or when I’ll enjoy my work then I would consider myself as a successful person.
After these views I came to a conclusion that everybody has different perception about success. Some consider themselves successful when they achieve financial stability whereas some prefer to measure their success on basis of their place in society. Or some people feel successful when they relieve pain from others life.

Finally I would like to say that Choice, not circumstances, determines your success.

Don't be partial !!!!

Is there any similarity among films Wake Up Sid!, Aisha, once Upon a time in Mumbai &  Dhobi Ghat ?.....
All these films are based on different stories, actors are different, every aspect is different except one. In these movies word ‘BOMBAY’ is used instead of  ‘MUMBAI’.,
Around two years back  (year 2009) Wake Up Sid! was released. Along with film members one of the political parties in Maharashtra actively helped in making publicity of movie. The party was Maharashtra Navnirman Sena. The party was against use of word ‘Bombay’ instead of ‘Mumbai’, which was used quite a few times in that film. At that time, the issue raised by them was absolutely right. MNS tried to stop the shows of that film which were running across the Mumbai. The result of that agitation was that producer of Wake Up Sid! had to show a disclaimer in theatres before beginning of the film & apologise for hurting the sentiments of  a particular group of people.

After this issue MNS chief wrote a letter to Sharmila Tagore (Chairperson, CBFC) stating she would be held responsible for any film released containing the word `Bombay' instead of `Mumbai'.
Recently I watched two movies, Aisha & Dhobi Ghat. In the movie Aisha, actor Abhay Deol Speaks the word Bombay 3-4 times. At that time no such objection was taken by MNS. The movie did not face any kind of disturbances. Same was the case with Dhobi Ghat. In this film Aamir khan uses the word Bombay in his dialogues. Here also same thing was repeated. No action was taken. The most surprising fact was that MNS chief Raj Thackeray was present in the theatre for premier of  Dhobi Ghat.
How could MNS be partial to later two movies? It was just unacceptable. I personally admire Raj Thackeray. According to me, he is one of the most talented leaders in Maharashtra. But in this issue I am against him & his party.
MNS also has separate cell for monitoring all activities related to television, Bollywood & Marathi movies. And still such negligence? This is definitely going to affect image of MNS.
I think people should not use the word Bombay. Neither in day-to-day conversation nor in films. Officially Bombay became Mumbai in late 90’s. And unless we use word Mumbai, it will not become the routine word. The name Mumbai was given to the city by Indians and it was renamed as Bombay by British people. At least let’s not follow the names given by British people.
Finally I appeal MNS to be impartial in every activity. Don’t spoil your image. & I hope from today let's use Mumbai instead of Bombay.....
