Bollywood waalonki Mumbai.........

MUMBAI…………. one of the magical cities in India….. a home for around 1.5 crore people… Everyone comes here to achieve their dream… each person with different life, different mood, different standard of living…………. Some call it, Bombay…….. Some call it, Bambai…… But for me it’s MUMBAI, rather, AAMCHI MUMBAI….
Today, I am going to tell about life of MUMBAIKARS and city’s connection with one of the most famous businesses in the city i.e. BOLLYWOOD. Hindi Film Industry likes Mumbai as much as Mumbai likes Bollywood. Mumbai City has been a central character in many bollywood films. Not only this but Hollywood people are also in love with this city. Slumdog Millionaire is the best example.
But Mumbai has a special place in the hearts of bollywood film makers. So, let’s talk about connection of bollywod & Mumbai.
Recently I watched movie, Dhobi Ghat, which is based on life of Dhobis in Mumbai. The film talks about their problem, their dreams, their struggle to earn bread & butter. This was the untouched subject until Kiran Rao looked into it.
In 2010, bollywood took us back in the 1970’s with films like Once upon a time in Mumbai & Action Replayy. Both films were different from each other. Once upon… talked about rise of underworld in Mumbai & Akshay kumar starrer Action Replayy made many senior citizens look back in their college days. Through this film director also tried to show fashion and romance of 70’s.

The films like Mumbai meri Jaan, Tum Mile projected unity of Mumbai during major crisis. Both films were based on  two most deadly situations experienced by people of Mumbai. The subject of MMJ was aftermath of series of bomb-blasts in Local Trains and how that incidence destroys life of many. Tum Mile was a story about how Flood in Mumbai helps two PREMI to get together.

Director Madhur Bhandarkar has successfully shown the dark side of Mumbaikar’s life through his films like Traffic Signal, Chandani Bar, Page 3, Fashion, etc.
Films like Luck By Chance & Wake Up Sid! are about life of young Mumbai. Luck By Chance is a movie about an actor who comes in Mumbai to become Star. Wake up Sid! is a story of rich, young, carefree college student who becomes serious in life when his friend teaches him meaning of life.
Movies such as Shootout at Lokhandwala, Satya were based on gang-wars in Mumbai. N. Chandra’s film Yeh Mere India talked about bias nature of people. He showed many types of biases in his film such as communal bias, religious bias, economic bias etc. he wonderfully explained their connection through the film.
Hollywood film Slumdog Millionaire also threw light on darker side of city’s life. It was based on life of street children and their dreams.
Recent marathi films like Zendaa highlighted politics and young people in Mumbai. Laalbaug-parel raised issue of life of textile mill workers and problem faced by them after closing of the mills.
These are just few examples…. There are many such movies & documentaries.

All these films tell about life of different Mumbaikars
their dreams....................,
their problems.................,
their struggle for existence.................,
their hard work to become successful..............,
and many more shades of their life.
This city doesn’t offer you success without struggle. From Ambani to Ambavane everyone has to work
hard to taste success….

Hats off to Mumbai & Mumbaikar…..
